12 Years and Counting…

Today marks the 12th anniversary of my first performance under the TVT moniker. It was at a club in Iceland called Gauker á Stöng with just myself, a guitar and Line6 pod borrowed from a local musician named Nonni (who I met through mp3.com… remember that?), and my QY70 sequencer that I programmed a good amount of the early EP’s on. The two weeks I was there, not to mentioned the twelve years that have followed, have been a wild ride. Thanks to all who have listened and helped along the way. ♥ -Judah

Man, this last week has been a blast, and I can’t believe this leg of the tour is almost over. Let’s see… Webster Hall was easily one of my favorite nights of the trip, what a champion of a venue that is. Amazing stage sound (crucial for the touring musician), great crowd, man… that was fun. 9:30 Club, The National, Lincoln Theatre, The Masquerade, good god. These shows have been off the hook. And most recently, N’awlins House of Blues. What a killer vibe that place has. Also awesome was hanging at an authentic N.O. hip hop show for a bit. First time for me and I loved it.

Further more, I have to mention that I LOVE being part of the MTB family. Being on tour with people that I genuinely consider to be some of my closest friends is the best feeling in the world. Makes me wish we didn’t live so far from each other, and makes the experience of touring together something I can’t properly put into words.

See you tonight, Houston!

Minus The Bear / The Velvet Teen 2011 Fall Tour Announced

It’s incredibly been about 5 years since we’ve toured with Minus The Bear, and around 9 years since we first shared the stage with them. Time is a strange thing, something I generally try not to think about too often (‘often’ being a time-biased term in the first place (‘first place’, a knowing second, so to speak)). The moment is everything. That said, we’ve had far too many great moments with Minus The Bear to count, and as such, I think we have Time beat, because such connections are Timeless. The people that are collectively (both past and present) Minus The Bear are champions among humankind, and we are thankful to call them our friends. Who can we say have been so awesome as to come to our shows in the off-season, or call or write us in our slowest times? To have our back, even when the world seemed against us, and send us PSA’s or sweet-ass R&B jams when the going got tough? Who has put out consistently amazing records for the past decade? MINUS THE f*cking BEAR that’s who. FOR REAL. So dudes, we salute you, and thank you for your continued friendship… October will rule. YAAARRRRR.
