12 Years and Counting…

Today marks the 12th anniversary of my first performance under the TVT moniker. It was at a club in Iceland called Gauker á Stöng with just myself, a guitar and Line6 pod borrowed from a local musician named Nonni (who I met through mp3.com… remember that?), and my QY70 sequencer that I programmed a good amount of the early EP’s on. The two weeks I was there, not to mentioned the twelve years that have followed, have been a wild ride. Thanks to all who have listened and helped along the way. ♥ -Judah

New Year’s Eve Party 2011!

We’re playing at one of our favorite venues of all time (Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco) for New Year’s Eve. I’m not going to give away any secrets, but this is going to be so much fun. We’re definitely going a little crazy with this one. Alright, so here are the links:

Man, this last week has been a blast, and I can’t believe this leg of the tour is almost over. Let’s see… Webster Hall was easily one of my favorite nights of the trip, what a champion of a venue that is. Amazing stage sound (crucial for the touring musician), great crowd, man… that was fun. 9:30 Club, The National, Lincoln Theatre, The Masquerade, good god. These shows have been off the hook. And most recently, N’awlins House of Blues. What a killer vibe that place has. Also awesome was hanging at an authentic N.O. hip hop show for a bit. First time for me and I loved it.

Further more, I have to mention that I LOVE being part of the MTB family. Being on tour with people that I genuinely consider to be some of my closest friends is the best feeling in the world. Makes me wish we didn’t live so far from each other, and makes the experience of touring together something I can’t properly put into words.

See you tonight, Houston!

Thank you!

Last night was so much fun. Definitely one of the biggest crowds I have personally ever played to. I think there were 2,250 people in attendance. Crazy crazy crazy. We sold out of a few sizes of our shirts but should be replenished by our Brooklyn show. Okay, I’m tired. I’m going to try to sleep in the van again. Wish me luck! Oh yeah! We picked up another straggler. My sister Megan is with us until Atlanta documenting our antics. Sleep time… Night night.

How much?

This is how much we love you: Instead of taking a day off in Brooklyn, one of the coolest places on earth, we’re going to play a show for those of you who weren’t able to get tickets to the sold out Webster Hall show. We’re playing Monday, October 17th at the Glasslands Gallery in Williamsburg. Spanish Prisoners and Crinkles will be joining us. Sounds like fun, yeah? Yes it does. Hopefully we’ll see you there!!!

Sorry, I didn’t post yesterday. I’m kinda on the DL right now. The show I Buffalo was incredible and it was David David’s birthday (see above). We went to celebrate and some how Dave and I ended up on the floor. I guess some of my muscles weren’t completely healed because I ended up spending about 2 hours soaking in a bath then icing my sore muscles. Ugh. On the other hand, I had some really great vegan “pho” in Ferndale the other day at Flytrap just outside of Detroit. I say “pho” rather than straight up pho because, as you can see, it’s not exactly legit. It was still super super good. So many mushrooms… So many black sesame seeds… Mmmmmmm…

I miss you already…

Dear Chicago,
It’s Matthew from the Velvet Teen. Let me say first off that you are amazing. You made my night by hooting, hollering and dancing around while I was playing guitar. Okay, now to the hard part: I’m truly am very sorry for wearing shorts and smelling so bad. I could give you any number of reasons it happened, but I know it’s inexcusable and again, I am very sorry. Please accept my sincerest apologies.

Regretfully,
Matthew Izen

Now that’s out of the way: Chicago, you rule. The show was SO much fun last night. We got to hang with some amazing people after the show (Will!!!). Some people spent as long as 5 1/2 hours traveling to see us (Will!!!). Thanks for buying stuff, too! It sure does help us while we’re out on the road. But most importantly, thanks for being so stoked. It makes it so much more fun for us onstage when the audience is showing love, and Chicago: we definitely felt the love. Thanks!!!! Oh yeah, and I had some really great vegan biscuits and gravy at Handlebar this morning and some pretty awesome dolmas/falafel/hummus last night at Petite Pita. And I exercised my Americanness by eating some freedom fries. All in all a great time in the windy city.

P.S. This is what I get to watch every night. Jealous much?
